I just read MGMAT verbal foundation and need help about prepositional phrase at Drill 4.2 question No 5 :

"To run with the wolves on thirty consecutive cold winter mornings in Minks, belarus, is to truly strengthen your spirit in just one month; to drink nothing but cold mountain water and eat nothing but goat meat for thirty days in any of the former Soviet republics IS to truly strengthen your character in a similarly spartan manner"

To drink nothing and eat nothing is to truly strengthen your character.

could anyone help me why it is singular verb?
isn't it supposed to be plural verb (are)?
Thank you.
