Hi real human here! So excited I was a winner!
I'm a yes at Duke and Kelley. Waiting on official Haas on 3/27. I decided not to apply to Kellogg because I am very happy about my current options and I'm just tired of the application grind.
I have had great interviews at all three schools. I am an EMBA applicant so am quite capable of having a conversation about anything with anyone at this stage in my life. Luckily, I've had an interesting backstory and an interesting life which doesn't hurt my chances.
I think the main takeaway I can give anyone applying for an EMBA is to just be authentic. Know why you want to do this, and why now. Make sure you are able to hold a friendly, fun conversation but know how to get your story in there in a succinct way. I think if you know your worth and can convey it, and have at least a semblance of academic chops to back it up, you will be able to succeed.
Things I wish I had done differently: I have been out of school for a couple of decades, so I wish I would have GMAT ninja'ed and then GMAT club and private tutored to prep. It would have saved me an inordinate amount of time. I don't think paying someone to help you craft your application is necessary at all; all my schools I got into without the help of an advisor and decided against Kellogg (which I was getting assistance on the app for), so ended up spending additional money for no reason.
Definitely be someone who brings something to the cohort and know how to convey that. I am happy to answer any questions if anyone has any. GMAT 625, EA 161
