I have given 4 mock tests (ETS Powerprep and Veritas) and have been hovering around 680 – 690 mark (touched 700 once), but haven’t been able to cross the 700 mark.
So I kinda am feeling plateaued in my prep (even after turning to various de-briefs / posts on how to improve) and wanted some thoughts.
I have been conducting detailed analysis of my performance
Quant• Hovering around 47 – 49 in Q - Am consistently making mistakes in the same topics
• Losing out on time – I end up spending too much time on some questions and then have to rush through the later questions, leading to more careless mistakes / guesswork
• Action Plan o Revise the concepts that I have got wrong (from GC Math Book – haven’t used Manhattan Quant guides) and just solve more questions on the topics from GC’s database
o Simply sitting with 37 questions regularly and solving them in 75 minutes
Verbal • Losing out on timing in Verbal. I end up rushing into / guessing as many as 8 -9 of the last 10 questions (hovering around 34 - 36 )
• CR is my weakest area (wile RC actually is the strongest with accuracy of 90% + in the OG and exams). I turned to Manhattan CR, and though my accuracy did go up; after solving some 150 odd questions, I concluded that with some more time ( Approx. 2.5 Min per question) I can touch accuracies of as much as 80 – 90%. But because I cannot afford so much time, I need to reduce the time spent on CR questions.
• Action Plan o Focussing around improving timing seems to be the key. The best way I can think of is simply sitting with 41 questions regularly and solving them in 75 minutes.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
