Hello,

I am working in an analytics consulting based role. My post MBA goal is Management Consulting.

Is this technically a career transisition, or just a way to complement my skills ?

How can I write my short term and long term MBA goals in this context. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

IMHO, this is not total transition but rather a career advancement that certainly your background will help you a lot.

You need to invest some time really thinking what lead you to think in MBA and hence you will reach your short and long term goals. Do not be shy to show your weaknesses and situation lead you to think to do MBA. I do not see any problem to mention management consulting as your goals but you need to mention what skill you have and why management consulting. Crafting such essay needs to invest good time.

Good luck

I would adopt following filter here: Can I come to speed in management consulting in few weeks or shorter? Someone from a boutique MC firm probably can.

Having said that I would not worry much about it and rather focus on transferable skills, which you can show as the function doesn't change much.
