I was wondering... is there a way to know the exact percentile for the scores? Is 770 a 99.5? 99.8? 99.7? Would be nice to know how rare my score really is.

Got my official report already.

Verbal: 45(98%)
Quantitative: 50(95%)
Total: 770(99%)
AWA: 5.5(80%)

So overalll... pretty satisfied. I know I could have done better though but if it's not really gonna make a difference then it's not worth retaking it.

I'd say that this is about the 99.5% percentile. It's a fabulous score and would place you squarely in the middle of the MGMAT instructors-It's one of the top 10 scores of gmatclub

Really? That's pretty cool.

Have there been any 800's here?

Yup only the three OG things.

I went through the big book twice. Went through the smaller books once. Did 5 practice tests online.

Great score!!!
Question though... you said you went trhough the big book twice. And you only had 1 month to study! wow
I'm wondering, how long did it take to go through the big book?
I'm finalizing a study schedule and I read a couple of posts about taking a whole month to go through the OG orange book... on top of all the material I have to cover
Please share:)
thanks

I'd go through about a hundred questions a day or so, sometimes up to 150. I'd write down my answers on another sheet and circle the ones I got wrong. Then I'd look at the answers and make sure I understood.

100 questions shouldn't take you more than about 3 hours.

Then the second time I wrote in the book itself and when I got questions wrong I'd circle them.

Then I went through my mistakes one last time.

My issue essay was on:

“Employers should have no right to obtain information about their employees’ health or other aspects of their personal
lives without the employees’ permission.”
Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons
and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.

My argument essay was on:

The following appeared as part of a recommendation from the business manager of a department store:
“Local clothing stores reported that their profits decreased, on average, for the three-month period between August 1
and October 31. Stores that sell products for the home reported that, on average, their profits increased during this
same period. Clearly, consumers are choosing to buy products for their homes instead of clothing. To take advantage
of this trend, we should reduce the size of our clothing departments and enlarge our home furnishings and household
products departments.”
Discuss how well reasoned . . . etc.

Excellent score, mate. Congratulations! BTW, you may want to remove any references to the argument essay content that you came across on GMAT. Remember, Scoretop scandal got started when people started posting what they saw on the real GMAT. So, in a way, this could be considered a "violation" of the agreement that you have with GMAC when you signed up for teh test (which requires that you not share/discuss any of the exam contents, including the essays). Just a thought and a note of caution!

WOO HOOO - "pretty satisfied?" Were you scoring 810's on your GMATPrep stuff and this disappoints?? Just kidding That score rocks!

It's interesting that the 800Score.com calculator is off by a bit. It says that Q50, V45 is a 780.

Damn. 780 would have been really nice. :o Any chance they'll change my 770 to 780?

My pratice tests averaged 770 so I guess my target was 770... Was still hoping for 800 though. At 770, I guess anything is possible. I would have been a bit disappointed had I scored less than 770 to be honest.

The GMAT guide says 760-800 are better than 99%... but do we have more specific figures for 760, 770, 780, 790 and 800? After all there is a big difference between 760 and 800 yet both are "better than 99%"

I don't think they'll change your score... I took the GMAT this Saturday and got a 770 with Q50, V46. Sonibubu was able to get a 780 with Q50, V47, but I also recall someone else on this forum getting a 770 with Q50, V47.

I've never heard of a score changing. Anyway, a 770 is just as good as a 780 (or higher) unless you want to be an GMAT instructor!
