WEEKDAYS: Classical 6h-22h___ Jazz: 22h-6h
SAT:_______Classical 6h-23h (except Talkshow 30min & Artnews 30min)
SUN:_______________________Jazz: most of the time

1. For each of the following options, select Supported if it can be reasonably inferred from the information in the tabs. Otherwise, select Not supported.

After incorporating WFLN’s programming, WRTI devoted more weekly airtime to classical music than to jazz. => Supported

During weekdays: Classical was allocated 16 hours air time and Jazz got 8 hours
Sat: Classical got 16 hours (= 17 - 0.5 - 0.5)
=> Total air time for Classical: 96 hours

7 days = 24 * 7 = 168 hours
Even if all time not mentioned is devoted to Jazz
=> Total air time for Jazz: 168 - 96 - 0.5 - 0.5 = 71 hours < 96 hours (for Classical)

From 1997 through 2005, WRTI experienced a greater percentage increase in total listeners compared to total members. => Not Supported

Total listeners in 2005 compared to 1997: \(\frac{19.3}{6.5} = 2.96\)
Total members in 2005 compared to 1997: \(\frac{15000}{3371} = 4.44 > 2.96\)

Membership contributions per member increased in 1999 compared to the previous year. => Supported

Total contributions = Contributions per member * Membership

In 1999: Total contribution increases but Membership decreases
=> Contributions per member must have increased

2. Based on the provided information, select "Yes" if the option positively impacted WRTI's membership. Otherwise, select "No".

Staff additions => Yes
"declines in contributions and membership numbers in 1999 and 2001, the hiring of a chief financial officer in 1999 and a membership director in 2001 helped reverse this trend, leading to increased numbers in both members and contributions."

Increase in AQH listeners => No
This is the result of the acquisition of WFLN, not the cause impacting the membership

Membership contributions => No
This is the result of the acquisition of WFLN, not the cause impacting the membership

3. During which two years following the acquisition of WFLN by WRTI did the number of members increase by the highest percentage?

1997 - 1999: x2 from 4k to 8k => 100%
1998 - 2000: 10k to 12k
1999 - 2001: same (8k)
2000 - 2002: same (12k)
2001 - 2003: under 14k to 15k

1. For each of the following options, select Supported if it can be reasonably inferred from the information in the tabs. Otherwise, select Not supported.

(a) After the acquisition of WFLN’s programming, WRTI allocated more time per week to classical music than to jazz.

Timings for classical music: Weekdays - 6am to 10pm = 16hours * 5 days = 80 hours, and on Saturday 6am to 11pm less one hour, so another 16 hours. So, 96 hours of classical music out of a maximum possible of 24*7 or 168 hours.
Even if all other hours are dedicated to Jazz music, it will never be more than 96 hours.
Hence supported.

(b) From 1997 through 2005, WRTI had a greater percent increase in its number of total listeners than in its number of total members.
Listeners: 6500 to 19300, so an increase of around 12800 over 6500, a % just less than 200%.
Members: 3371 to 15000, so an increase of more than 11000/3371, a % surely greater than 300%.
Hence, not supported

(c) Membership contribution per member increased in year 1999 from the previous year.
Year 1999 has more contributions and lesser members contributing, so surely Membership contribution per member in 1999 would be greater.
But let us check.
Membership contribution per member in 1998: $400,000 by 9500 members, just over $40
Membership contribution per member in 1999: $600,000 by 6000 members, that is $100

Q.2. Based on the given information, select Yes if the option had a positive impact on WRTI membership. Otherwise, select No.
(a) Staff additions: THe last line in the Tab 2 gives the answer: Both members and contributions rose following these staff additions...so YES
(b) Increase in AQH listeners: The Tab 2 in the initial lines just tells us that there was an increase in number of listeners but did not impact membership, we cannot say...NO
(c) Membership contributions: Again there is no relation given in members and contributions..NO

Q. 3. During which two years after the acquisition of WFLN by WRTI, did the number of members increase by maximum percentage?
Scan the graph and look for the increases in set of two years, but keep an eye out for what the base would be. A lesser increase on a very small initial amount may give you a much higher %.
For example: 10 over 2 is 500% but 200 over 100 is 200%.
The increase as a % is max in 1997-1999.

I have one doubt regarding 1(b). In your solution, you calculated the percentage based on the "AQH listeners" values mentioned in the passage. But the question asks for "total listeners". Both these terms can mean different things, we don't know based on the information in the passage. So, my understanding was, we can't calculate the % change in "total listeners" and hence the answer is Not Supported.

Please help me whether this understanding is wrong.
