Re: The attached graph displays the percent of Australian households with [#permalink]
1st q - three age groups...option C

2nd q - 60 % increase ..so option B

3rd q - D

we cant draw any conclusions BECAUSE we need to know what is the population of australians WITHIN each of these age groups
- 15 - 24
- 25 - 34
- 35 - 44
- 45 - 54
- 55 - 64
- 65 +

Re: The attached graph displays the percent of Australian households with [#permalink]
Hi @Sajjad1994-I think I fell into the percentage trap here. For percent increase, we need to make sure we use the percent change formula (which is (Final-Initial)/Initial), right? Because I initially solved this question by simply calculating the differences in the respective percentages for each age group, which led me to finding that only 1 group having an increase greater than 15% (this was the 45-54 age group). How do I avoid this confusion in the future? Is it always just to use percent change formula and never calculating the absolute difference, even between percentages? I found this question difficult for that reason, but got part 2 fairly easily.

Thanks, Kaushik
