a The audience in soccer matches are oftentimes --> Audience is singular. Hence, it should be "is"

b The audience in a soccer match are often --> Same as A

c The audience in soccer matches is frequently

d The audience in soccer matches is sometimes --> Change in meaning. Sometimes could mean once or twice. While as per the meaning we need more frequent.

e An audience in a soccer match is often --> We are talking about specific audience. So, using An audience makes it generic.

The audience must take a singular verb is, A and B out!!

As pointed out by abhimahna (D) changes the meaning, so answer must be (C)

As per the original meaning of the sentence, we are talking about the specific audience by using the article "the".

E is making this audience generic by using the article "an".

I hope you know the difference between these two articles.

So, E is actually changing the original meaning of the sentence and hence is incorrect.

P.S: Grammatically there is no problem with E. Its all about meaning.
