The average of A, B and C is 34 years and the average of B, C and D is 39 years. If the age of D is 28 years, then what is the age of Mr. A.

A. 10 years

B. 11 years

C. 12 years

D. 13 years

E. 14 years

Sum of ages of A,B,C = 34 * 3 = 102

Sum of ages of B,C,D = 39*3 = 117.

Sum of ages of B and C = B + C + D = 117 - 28 = 89.

A+ B + C =102

A + 89 = 102

A = 13.

D is the correct answer.

Average of 3 people are given, which can be multiplied by the number of terms to get the Sum of the terms

A+B+C = 102
B+C = 102 - A

B+C+D = 117

A + 2(B+C) = 219-28
A + 2(102 - A) = 191
A = 13 yrs
