E is a trap but is not correct because AND is a conjunction used to join two independent clauses.

B is correct. Subordinate clause works there.

The OG sentence presents contrast and we need to maintain that... Group of 2 & 3.. and is wrong, eliminate D&E..
In option C... the meaning of the sentence is changed... hunting is been supplemented by cultivation...
In option A.. hunters are supplementing their hunting with cultivation and not Aztecs...

Option B provides clear contrast and meaning.
