Cost price(CP): 570+0.5x
Selling price(SP): 10x
SP = CP
10x = 570+0.5x
9.5x = 570
x = 60

To "recoup" CP = SP
or, 570 + 0.5x = 10x
or, 9.5x = 570
or, 95x = 5700
or, x = 60.

However, if the aim was to gain profit, then 61 would have been the answer.

10x = 570 + 0.5x

Or, 9.5x = 570

Or, 95 = 5700

So, x = 5700/95

Or, x = 60, Answer must be (C)

Letting x = the number of crayons sold, we can create the equation:

10x = 570 + 0.5x

9.5x = 570

x = 60
