Back in college, just about a year ago — many of my friends started preparing for the GMAT and GRE. Within just 3–4 months, they managed to score really well. It’s not that I never thought about doing the same; I absolutely did. But at that time, my family advised me to take a step back and first understand why I wanted to take those exams. They said, “Figure out your reason... don’t just follow the crowd.”
And honestly, they were right ,I lacked clarity then. So, I followed their suggestion, joined the corporate world, and thought I’d gain some exposure before making a decision about an MS or MBA.
Fast-forward a year into corporate life , I’ve seen the grind, learned a lot, and now I do feel that an MBA might be the right step forward. But wow, preparing for the GMAT while working full-time is a whole different challenge. The office deadlines, the constant fatigue, the daily chores —: it’s exhausting trying to balance everything.
Sometimes I can’t help but wonder: why didn’t I just prepare back then? When I had fewer responsibilities, more time, and fresher energy. Right now, every study session feels like a mini battle of focus and stamina.
Still, I’m showing up day after day ..ugh yeah..because I know why I’m doing this now. But yeah, just being honest... it’s hard.
