The division of fighter planes took place between USA,RUSSIA, FRANCE and England. The planeS consist of F-16, SUKHOI & EUROFIGHER.THE COST OF EACH F-16 & SUKHOI IS $ 20,000 and 8000 respectively. while the cost of one Eurofighter is $ 5000. the USA AND RUSSIA GOT TOGETHER THE SAME PLANES AS FRANCE AND ENGLAND GOT TOGETHER. USA GOT MORE THAN RUSSIA & FRANCE GOT MORE THAN ENGLAND. USA GOT ONE THIRD F-16 & 20% SUKHOIS WHILE FRANCE RECEIVED 50% SUKHOIS AS THE 50% OF HIS TOTAL PLANES. THE NO. OF F-16 THAT USA & RUSSIA GOT TOGETHER WAS 50% MORE THAN THAT OF FRANCE AND ENGLAND TOGETHER HAD. RUSSIA GOT 8 , F-16 & ENGLAND GOT 7 F-16 BUT USA AND RUSSIA GOT EQUAL NO.OF SUKHOIS & ENGLAND GOT 20 SUKHOIS LESS THAN THAT OF FRANCE. ENGLAND GOT TWICE THE EUROFIGHTER THAN THAT OF RUSSIA BUT 20% LESS THAN THAT OF FRANCE.

Read the statements carefully, break them into parts and write down the information. Cost of one F-16 = 20,000 $ Cost of one Sukhoi = 8,000 $ Cost of one Eurofighter = 5,000 $ Calculate F-16 only USA got one third of F-16 The number Of F-16 that USA & Russia got together was 50% more than that of France and England together had. It means 60% of F-16 are taken by both USA and Russia and 40% are taken by both France and England. If one third (33%) F-16 taken by USA then Russia will take 27% of F-16. Russia got 8 F-16 It means 8 F-16 are 27% of the total F-16 and total number of F-16 is 30. 1/3 are taken by USA which is 10. USA got 10 F-16. England got 7 F-16 as total F16 are 30 the remaining will go to France. France got 5 F-16 Now calculate Sukhoi only France received 50% Sukhois as the 50% of his total planes. USA and Russia got equal number of Sukhois England got 20 Sukhois less than that of France. What we can infer from the above statements is that 50% Sukhoi goes to France, 20% to USA, 20% to Russia and 10% to England. England got 20 Sukhois less than that of France. We can infer from above statement that 20 Sukhois consists of 40% of total Sukhois as France has 50% Sukhoi and England has 10%. Total number of Sukhoi is 50 France has 25 Sukhoi (50%) It also means total number of jets of France is 50 England has 5 Sukhoi USA and Russia each have 10 Sukhoi Now calculate Eurofighters only Half of USA jets are Eurofighters USA has 10 F-16 and 10 Sukhio then it has 20 Eurofighters. USA has 20 Eurofighters England got twice the Eurofighter than that of Russia but 20% less than that of France. If total number of jets of France is 50 and it has 25 Sukhoi and 5 F-16 then France has 20 Eurofighters. France has 20 Eurofighters England got 20% less Eurofighters than France we can infer that: England has 16 Eurofighters England got twice the Eurofighter than that of Russia, it means Russia has 8 Eurofighters. Russia has 8 Eurofighters. All of the jets are now allocated to all four countries and below is the summary. qwsa.jpg Now solve the questions Q-1. Difference between values of USA's planes & values of England's plane in $ 380,000 - 260,000 = 120,000 = 0.12 Millions = A Q-2 if France wants to exchange all his Sukhois with the f-16 then who can exchange with her f-16 in term of monetary value: The price of 25 Sukhoi = 25*8,000 = 200,000 = The price of 10 F-16 = 10*20,000 = 200,000 = USA = A Q-3 the value of planes of England is how many % less than that of France: Value of jets of England = 260,000 Value of jets of France = 400,000 Difference = 400,000 - 260,000 = 140,000 \frac{140,000}{400,000}*100 = 35% = A Q-4 the value of Eurofighter and Sukhois together is Value of Eurofighters = 320,000 Value of Sukhoi = 400,000 Total = 320,000 + 400,000 = 720,000 Value of F-16 = 600,000 Difference = 720,000 - 600,000 = 120,000 \frac{120,000}{600,000}*100 = 20% = A PS: there was a little typo in the question which I have edited. While I appreciate any source for the relatively less available MSR questions, this question is very poorly written. It is just a single long linear equations question. A pure algebraic quant question. Does the GMAT have such kind of MSR -- with only 1 tab?
