I was confused between 2 answer options- (c) and (e). Just wanted a bit clarity on why can't (e) be the conclusion here as the entire argument talks about the risks that guns pose on children.

Hi,

The argument nowhere talks about giving special protection to children aged 5- 14 years. So, to draw this conclusion is not correct. The author is only talking about how gun lobby's attempt to stop doctors from educating people about risks of gun is wrong.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
IMO C
Reason: Author’s opinion on the subject is that the gun lobby’s attempt is outrageous and unconstitutional.
The attempt in discussion is stopping the doctors from warning their patients about the severe risks posed by guns.
This shows that the author is on doctors’ side.
This is exactly what C says.

The argument is primarily focused on the gun lobby's attempt to stop doctors from warning about the risks of guns in homes and the high rate of accidental gun-related deaths among children aged 5 to 14 in the United States. It supports the idea that doctors should be allowed to give patients frank advice about these risks.

So, the consideration given in the argument best serves as part of the argument that:

C. doctors must be allowed to give patients frank advice about the risks posed by guns in the home.

This statement aligns with the main point of the argument, which is that the gun lobby's attempt to prevent doctors from warning about the risks of guns in homes is outrageous and unconstitutional.
