Let's let X be the original price of the car before the import duty and tax is added...

For starters, there is a 50% import duty that is added. So add 50% or .5 to x:

X + .5 = 1.5x. I prefer to work with fractions so 1.5x = 3/2x.

We now have to add 30% onto 3/2x.

A 30% increase is equal to 1.3x or 13/10x. So:

3/2x * 13/10 = 39/20x. This is the final cost of the car.

The problem states that TK28500 is the total added from the import duty and tax.

So we now have our formula:

39/20x = x + 28500
subtract x from both sides
39/20x - 20/20x = 19/20x
19/20x = 28500
28500 * 20/19 = 300000

x = 300000
