Hi All,

Like Doctor Manhattan, I too, have been a silent lurker around these parts. If you noticed a few goats missing, that was me

I've submitted my application today in R2. A brief about me:
Under Grad 1999 in Life Sciences / Biotechnology - Mumbai Univ, St Xaviers College - 69.25% (3rd in class)
11 years Entrepreneurial Small Family Business Experience in Apparel Export - multiple leadership, teamwork, and strong cross-functional, multi-cultural experience / exposure. Lots of foreign travel for Business Development.
ECs: State Level Basketball in College, Currently write a blog and writing a fiction novel that is part of a bigger franchise.
Reccos: 2 clients in US Beachwear Industry
GMAT: 730 - Q49,V41,AWA5.5

Glad you've decided to emerge from the shadowy recesses of absolute anonymity!

I'll always maintain that the hardest part of all my applications was The Wait. The first stage of your Wait has just begun. Occupy it by trying to relax, but also, in preparing for your London Business School interview (should you be fortunate enough to be short-listed! :-)

)

The following commons sense tips should get you ready for the interview:

1) Know your application inside out
2) Do further research on the programme; be able to engage the alumnus(a) in detailed conversations about what aspects of the London Business School community appeal to you, why they do so, and how they fit into your overall story
3) Do not fret over the legendary "short presentation", but do not take it for granted either
4) Know "Why an MBA," "Why now," and "Why London Business School," if you refuse to know anything else! Be prepared to be prodded on this, and be articulate in the rationale you outline to the interviewer
5) Be prepared to provide supplemental anecdotes that buttress your conversational points throughout the interview; supplemental in that they are in addition to, and completely different from, any of the anecdotes you've already provided in your application essays or elsewhere in your application.

I would have 5 years of workex at matriculation... of which 17 months were in EY risk advisory and 22 in EY transaction advisory (due diligence).. rest in private practice(audit and tax)..

You mean that the interviewer may ask for a short presentation? if it is a topic of our choice, i'd be more comfortable doing that than addressing questions like "what do you think are your weaknesses and how do you plan to overcome those"
ah well! only if there is a green signal for the application...

it might be worth reading back the thread a bit for R1's interview experiences. every LBS interview contains a short (5min) presentation on a general topic (given to you by your interviewer on the spot) with focus mostly on presentation and structure, rather than content. Further details on this presentation and how to prepare were discussed in some detail earlier in this thread as well as last year's LBS thread (see link in the first post of this one).
having said that, you will also get the usual weaknesses/leadership/teamwork/etc questions! in my experience, the LBS interview is probably among the longest & most thorough you can expect to get among the top schools.

i hope you will get to experience it, among with the other R2s of gmatclub!

Friends,

A quick one to all those who submitted their R2 application. Did you get any email stating that the application has been submitted successfully. Asking because all I recieved was an email that the fee has been paid successfuly, though portal does say that the application has been submitted. I would have expected an automated email response on submitting, which didn't come through.

You should get something like this when you submit your application -
"Thank you for submitting your online application to the Full-time MBA Programme at London Business School. We are delighted to acknowledge receipt of this."

But instead of getting paranoid, you should consider calling the adcom and confirm your application submission.

crux - I received one email which confirmed successful processing of the credit card payment and another email which confirms the submission of the application.
If the portal acknowledges that your application has gone through, it might suffice. Alternatively, you could try emailing the admissions and state that you did not receive the confirmatory email.

Could any R1 admits please shed a little light on:
1. I realise that the LBS interview is non-blind - does that mean the interviewer has access to your entire application package, including essays?
2. Does the interviewer ask questions on your elective choices and on specific courses/concentration plans?

I have an important question for you: can the e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, and names for the regional contacts you just posted be considered public information? In other words, are you a London Business School current/recently admitted student who has access to this information through the London Business School Portal, or perhaps, access through the information shared with you in your electronic Offer Letter from the programme?

Or is this information readily available to the public, not requiring a specialised access or status to obtain it?

Doctor Manhattan,

Got the contact info as a part of the confirmation mail received after submitting the application. So i think we can consider information to be pretty public. But i couldnt find it anywhere on the LBS website; atleast not that comprehensively. I have already contacted the asia PoC so i can vouch for the authenticity of that information in case you are looking to use that info anywhere. Hope this helps.

I spoke to two different current LBS students today, but forgot to ask this question both times - prashok or bsd, perhaps you can help:

as a current student, when you log on to Portal, do you have access to the whole alumni network? As an admit, my access is to admits and current students. At which stage are you 'upgraded' to full access?

That was my point exactly. It did not seem proper to me to publish information that has only been made available to a restricted group.

Lastminute,

I would hardly agree that the specific contact information for specific members of the Admissions Committee ought to be considered public, or that it should be readily accessible to all and sundry. There's a clear difference between general access contacts (e-mail and telephone), and business contacts for specific personnel. Receiving these contact details after paying your application fee, and submitting your application is, does not make the information public, but carries an implied expectation of discretion.
