Hi there,

I am also a R2 applicant. Due to time pressure, I might not be able to submit a quality application package before the second round and shall consider catching the R3 ddl. Could anyone here tell how the odds are for admission at R3? Many thanks!

London Business School's got a closed laptop policy during class?? Brilliant! I always disliked taking classes in my undergraduate university (especially ones I found particularly interesting) only to be distracted by the incessant key-tapping of those who were either taking copious notes electronically, or else, catching up with Facebook or MySpace gossip during class without even the polite pretence of paying attention to the professor.

Yeah, that's why I usually never bring my laptop to class. That said, in the more boring subjects, people still catch up on Facebook and gossip through their mobiles instead...

LOL!

If this will be my lasting legacy at LBS, then I should forget McKinsey and Goldman Sachs and become a paparazzo!

Friends,

As the deadline for R2 approaches, I am increasingly getting nervous on the wordcount of my essays. I have read that 10% is generally an accpected margin, but I have exceeded the wordcount in almost every essay. (E1: 634/600, E2: 201/200, E3: 509/500, E4: 419/400, E5: 168/150).

Can fellow accepted members share their experience on wheether this is an acceptable word count?

Many thanks.

regarding the word limit, I think you did a great job. here is my word count for all six essays and they weren't too bothered about going over all the time  however, I tried to keep it within the 10% margin...

E1: 659/600, E2: 197/200, E3: 549/500, E4:430/400, E5:173/150, Opt: 320/300

hope this helps

fernando09... going by the advice of members here I also did hurry to meet R2 deadlines. For international candidates R3 looks very difficult.

pheww! did manage to get the application in, in time... but highly worried about one of the references. Unfortunately, I can't see what has been written and now I'm not so much sure about one of the references. Senior guy but tad too much laid back! hope he hasn't been laid back writing a few lines! That his emails lately aren't having much love either, is just adding to the worries...

Now that that one is submitted, I can't even delete referee!
What do you think guyz? Would it look bad to admissions team if I request them to change referee after submission? has anybody done that?

fernando09,

There might be a better way to word a call to attention to your previous query. It's helpful to remember that this thread is part of a collaborative forum where members receive no compensation to discuss issues/dispense advice about the application process, and in general, life at London Business School. No one is obligated to answer questions, and passive demands to have a query answered are more likely to turn people off than incite them to respond.

On the subject of your query, speculation would have it that Stage 3 is substantially more competitive than Stage 2. I am merely repeating speculation though, and am not familiar with the facts. However, if you're questioning the wisdom of submitting an application for Stage 2 less than 48 hours from the Stage 2 deadline, you might want to give careful thought to your entire application strategy.

bsd_lover/prashok,
Quick question on the post admit scenario. If and when one gets the coveted admit, besides the references and contact detail proofs, will one be asked to also provide last payslips of previous jobs?
Just checking cause I dont have that in place and I think its gonna be difficult getting those. :?

I wasn't needed to provide payslips. The references were sufficient.

Were people able to see the pdf of the application before submitting. I am asking because yesterday l lot of the stuff I had filled into the box got deleted on its own and I had to fill them again. Plus even after making some changes when I log in next time I see that the changes were not saved(and yes I did save them.) The view application mode just shows the data form in doc. Were people able to see the final pdf before submitting.
Thanks

Guys I wont be answering any questions (including pms) for the coming week. The milkrounds have begun. They are both brutal and fascinating and very very time consuming. The very best of luck to all R2 applicants.

Hope to provide a detailed debrief of my experiences later.

Apologies in advance.
