My name is Brad and LBS is my top choice, followed by two US schools. I hope all my fellow 2011 LBS applicants can share their application progress on this thread much like the 2010 LBS thread. I actually attended an MBA fair last fall and spoke with the LBS staff and got the ball rolling then. Over the past 6 months or so it has become apparent that LBS fits what I am hoping to get from an MBA and I'm focusing my efforts accordingly. I checked today and it looks like they've put up the essay questions. I'm on vacation for the next month, so it will give me time to draft a couple first drafts. I've already read a couple MBA Admissions books and have a spreadsheet filled with my brainstorming for the general topics that appear on the essays. I'm still not sure whether I will use a consultant to review my essays or whether I will go the friends, family and colleagues route. Beside the obvious cost of a consultant I feel that drafting and editing myself is almost a matter of pride, ...or maybe hubris. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Now it is time to find the funding.
1. Has anybody got any news from LBS scholarships?
2. Any guidance on other sites that offer scholarships?
3. Has anybody applied for HSBC loan?

Congrats buddy! In a week's time or so you will get your LBS portal login details. That will give you all the details for financial aid, scholarships, etc. So till that time, take a whiff of fresh air and celebrate your admit decision, before you get into the chaos of managing finances

I applied in R2 and have been put on the waitlist. How many other people are in the same boat?

Any idea what the chance of getting in is from the waitlist (obviously not an exact science). I see a lot of people on this forum are weighing up multiple offers, so I assume that a fair percentage of people will decline their offiers - but LBS would have factored that in when picking the number of offers to give. On the email it says I don't need to submit anything in addition, but is there anything I can do to improve my chances?

The next 6/7 weeks are going to kill me! Congratulations to everyone that got in!

There's usually a decent number put on the W/L every round. What are your odds of coming off it? To be honest it is almost impossible to give you an answer. There will be a significant number of W/L'd people who ultimately get a seat in the progamme, but your chances depend on a number of different factors including who pulls out, your background/WE, and at the end of the day your "fit" for the seat that opens up. I used to live with a member of Adcom (not at LBS, but a top US school) and every year she would comment that the hardest part of the job was dealing with anxious W/Ler's pushing for updates etc. I know this probably isn't what you want to hear, but it really is a case of sitting tight and hoping for the best for the next couple of months. Unless there was a massive hole in your application it's tough to do anything to improve your overall profile other than being polite and impressing anyone you meet involved in the programme (without overdoing it of course).
