Hi twopercent,

First of all, congratulations to you and all admits for being accepted.

I'm a R1 admit, the first day of orientation will be August 22 (monday).

Look forward to meeting you in London.

Maybe LBS initiates the Chow Yan Fat scholarship in Gam(bl)ing Theory :) for film buffs

I haven't gotten anything yet, although i believe it comes in favorable waves: 1st dinged, then waitlists, followed by admits!

Folks,

I could really use some help here. I am completely and utterly torn between two schools. LBS or Columbia??? I thought I wanted to attend LBS for sure for the longest time but now, I just can't make a decision! They are both fantstic schools, great cities, and the two programmes offer similar but different advantages.

I'm a Canadian applicant, so the usual discussion surrounding preference of employment in the States vs. Europe doesn't really apply to me. I am open to go anywhere where there is a good opportunity after school.

Any thoughts?

For what it's worth - I currently live in NYC and love the city but decided not to apply to CBS due to the vibe I got from the school. I also know a number of CBS grads who are happy with where they ended up (i.e. good jobs) but none are particularly enthusiastic about the experience they had at the school. By contrast everyone I have had contact with at LBS (incl. current students and alumns 10 years removed) rave about the LBS experience and the impact it had on their life both personally and professionally. Ultimately I think it comes down to what feels right - I suspect your gut is telling you to go one way - more often than not that will be the right decision.

Full disclosure- I intend to accept the offer to join LBS so my view is obviously biased.

I also applied to both schools. Although I was accepted at LBS and dinged at CBS at the end, I visited both and talked to current students and alumni of both schools. My advice is to do the same.

I saw and felt the differences between the two and made up my mind before receiving their decissions. What I found out was that CBS has a more competitive environment, while LBS is more collaborative. CBS is too american (student body, cases), while LBS is a lot more global.

At the end is all about your fit on each b-school. You don't have anything to lose with either one.

Best of luck.

Nerdy question for bsd_lover: I've used Linux almost exclusively for the past decade. Presumably you're a fan of Unix as well. Were I to matriculate at LBS, how much Microsoft should I expect to have to accept into my life in order to do work effectively?

I'm in! International student.

Guys, I have a silly question here.

What's the "customs reference number" mentioned in the email? Is it a post code? Thanks a lot.
