Guys, no need to worry... check what LBS sent to its current students:

As non-EU students will be well aware, the Home Office is currently drafting reforms to Tier 1 General and Tier 2 visas. It is also in the consultation stage on reforms to Tier 4 and Tier 1 Post Study Work visas. The consultation is still underway, and there are still many unanswered questions, but we wanted to update you on what we know at this stage and what the School is doing to try and influence the situation.

Along with the Dean, we have met with the UK Border Agency and immigration lawyers to discuss the Home Office's consultation. We continue to work closely with recruiters to help them understand the potential consequences of the changes.

Although it is not definite at this stage, it looks likely that there will be a phased introduction of the new arrangements. If the Tier 1 Post Study Work visa is discontinued, it seems probable that those graduating in 2011 will not be affected. The School will lobby for this change to be phased in over a longer period to try and ensure that those graduating in subsequent years will not be impacted, but there is no certainty at this stage. Another major focus for the School is lobbying for students who are already on a Tier 4 visa to be able to transfer to a sponsored Tier 2 visa without counting towards the employer's cap.

The School and the Student Association have each prepared a response to the Home Office's consultation document, detailing our arguments against the proposed reforms. The consultation period closes on Monday 31 January.

Immigration lawyer briefing session

Fragomen, a leading immigration law firm, will be holding a further briefing session for students to update you on the latest developments. This session has been provisionally booked for Friday 18 February - please look out for more details and reserve your place on Career Central.

To see copies of past communications about the immigration reforms, please visit Portal > Career Services home page > Visa/immigration.

Please rest assured that the School is taking this issue extremely seriously and working hard to ensure the Home Office really understands our concerns. We will continue to update you as soon as more information becomes available.

Best wishes,

Hi,

Does anyone know how the tuition payments are made? In how many installments and when each?

I keep reading in the scholarship part of the website "first year tuition fee" and I am not sure how much that is and what it means.

Thanks,

Marcos

You get an option of paying one year in a lumpsum or split into 3 instalments.

- plan 2: 3 installments (with an additional charge of £250... and the last installment deadline is March 2012)

2nd year:
- plan 1: pay full amount £26,950 by 3 Oct 2012

hi all,
I know I am getting way ahead of myself here since the interview invites haven't even been sent out, but I am just curious about one thing. Can the scholarships mentioned on the LBS site be cummulative? Meaning does one get automatically ruled out for other scholarships if one gets one scholarship, or not? (of course I am talking about a supernaturally strong profile which would attract more than one scholarship, which is NOT my case, but still I cannot help but wonder...)

Hi to all

First time on this thread for me.

I am waiting the LBS interview invite R2 as do many of us. I just have a question regarding toefl I scored 106, is that enough?

I was on Stanford's website and they put that a 100 score is enough...

I scored 42 on the verbal part of my gmat...Hope it offsets...

Don't worry, if the adcom has a problem with your application, they will contact you. Mine says 'submitted' even after getting the final admit!

Thanks!
Do you know how many % are invited to interview?

Peter Johnson, MiF Senior Admissions Manager, in one of the Q&A sessions said that he would invite around 30% to an interview and extend offers to 70% of the interviewed applicants. he didnt specify whether he was talking about MiF or MBA зrogram though. sorry, i have lost the link to this Q&A.

I think you'll be fine. I forgot where I read it, but LBS' website clearly states that the English level of the applicant will be assessed throughout the entire admission process.
106 is a really good score.

That makes it 21% of offers. Given the yield, it makes sense for the LBS MBA.

It is interesting though, whether the number of applications has gone down this year, based on EU crisis, changes in UK immigration rules, restrictions for jobs for partners, etc. It brings the value of UK MBA so much lower!
(I personally might have chosen not to apply, if I only knew about the changes)

Any ideas?

If I understand it correctly, the UK immigration issues are just proposals at the moment - undergoing a thorough consultative process. And there is a good chance that some of those things will be happening and a lot of those things won't be.

No argument here. I'm just saying all these rumors and noise must have taken the number of applications down, and I wonder if this has a proof in a form of some statistics for this year? Or do they still report "an exceptional increase in the number of applicants"? :)

I am currently in the US, applying to r3 - LBS. Currently, in the process of writing essays.

I saw an upcoming LBS event in NYC (12th Feb) - anyone planning to attend that? I would mostly be going there.

I think the new visa proposals may impact chances of non-EU students getting into LBS and the % intake may fall. I guess LBS may do this because if the proposals come into effect, it may be left with a big bunch of unemployed students in 2013 thus impacting its ratings.
