Hi everyone,I’m currently preparing for the GMAT Focus Edition with the ultimate goal of applying to Executive MBA programs. I’ve been really happy with my prep progress so far and am consistently scoring above 700 on my official mocks.
However, as the actual test approaches, I’m finding myself struggling with a different kind of challenge:
test anxiety.Balancing a demanding full-time job in banking with this prep has already been high-pressure, and I’m starting to worry that the nerves of the actual exam day might cause my performance to drop compared to the comfort of taking mocks at home.
I’d love to hear from this community, especially those who successfully overcame similar hurdles:
- Mindset Shifts: How did you mentally transition from "mock mode" to "real exam mode" without freezing up?
- Test-Day Routines: Do you have any specific routines (breathing exercises, warm-up questions, break strategies) that helped you stay grounded during the exam?
- Managing the Clock: When anxiety hits, time seems to speed up. How do you reset yourself mid-section if you feel the panic setting in?
- Handling the "Drop": For those who experienced a score drop on their first attempt due to nerves, how did you bounce back mentally for the retake?
Any advice, personal stories, or resources would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!
