Can someone please explain why option E is wrong? Thanks!

E is grammatically correct if it is written as

The new marketing campaign is designed to appeal to a wider audience, and will focus on younger consumers.

but it does not convey the intended meaning.

The new marketing campaign is designed to appeal to a wider audience and will focus on younger consumers.

here is parallelism issue

two different tenses can not be added using AND conjuction

this is what i understand

kindly correct me if m wrong

thanks

Answer E is not grammatically wrong but slightly less precise in meaning compared to Answer A.

In answer A "with a focus on younger consumers" is an adverbial modifier describing how HOW the entire clause or "how the new campaign is designed" or the intention thereof whereas answer choice E separates the information as if the market campaign's design to appeal to a wider audience and it's intended focus on young people are two independent things - they're in parallel.

Can someone please explain why option E is wrong? Thanks!

Hello HN93,

We hope this finds you well.

To answer your query, Option E slightly alters the meaning of the sentence; the phrase "and will focus on younger consumers" implies that the campaign is designed to appeal to a wider audience and as a separate act will focus on younger consumers; the intended meaning is that campaign is designed to appeal to a wider audience through a focus on younger consumers.

We hope this helps.

All the best!

Hi, I'm afraid that this is wrong. Verbs in parallel structures can very well have different tenses.
Consider the (made up) example:
"I woke up at 8am this morning and am currently eating lunch."

Hope this helps! :)

Confused between A and D

Hello Apoorve1,

We hope this finds you well.

To answer your query, the only difference between Option D and Option A is that D is a bit less direct, making it slightly inferior.

We hope this helps.
All the best!
