To get the primeter of rectangle, we have the formula
2(X+Y)
2(X+Y)= 5/2X
--》1/2X= 2Y
X=4Y=AB=CD, lengths of rectangle
BC=Y
So, AB/BC= 4Y/Y= 4
Option(E)

perimeter is 2(AB+BC)
So from given 2(AB+BC) = 5/2(AB) by solving this AB/BC = 4

Hey,
could you please explain how to solve for AB/BC when having the equation 2(AB+BC) = 5/2(AB)?
Thank you!

Hi Luca1111111111111,

We have 2(AB+BC) = $$\frac{5}{2}$$(AB)
cross multiply
4(AB+BC)=5AB
4AB+4BC=5AB
4BC=5AB-4AB
4BC=AB
4=$$\frac{AB}{BC}$$
Hope it's clear now.

Let length be L and width be W.

Perimeter = 2L+2W =$$\frac{5}{2}$$W.
Multiplying both sides by to rid of the fraction : 4L+4W = 5W
Therefore, 4L = W . (subtracting both sides by 4W).

the ratio of $$\frac{AB}{BC}$$= $$\frac{L}{W}$$= 4:1
