The results of the last election are a concern for us. The candidates we supported were defeated in more than two-thirds of the races we followed. The result is a harder battle to get policies that benefit our interests through the legislature, but it’s also a budget issue. We can’t continue throwing money at races we can’t win, no matter how agreeable the candidate’s stand on our issues may be. The fact that they share our viewpoints doesn’t help if they can’t get elected. How can we determine where it makes sense to invest?

Explanation

The vice president is opposed to campaign finance reform.

The vice president makes no statements about laws governing campaign contributions. He only questions the effectiveness of the company’s previous contributions.

Answer: No

E.A.S.Y. Manufacturing supported candidates whose policy positions did not appeal to ethnic minorities.

The chart shows that most minority groups voted heavily for the candidates who ran against those the company supported. Such a skewed voting pattern suggests that the candidates supported by the company campaigned on platforms that did not win over minority voters.

Answer: Yes

Urban voters will control the results of elections by 2050.

The researcher points out that ethnic groups currently in the minority will become a larger part of the electorate, but there is no indication that these groups are necessarily centered in urban areas.

Answer: No

The candidates the company has chosen to support do not appear to have attracted Hispanic voters, but no information is given about the number of Hispanic employees in the company, and there is no information to indicate a relationship between the ethnicity of employees and the election results.

Answer: No

The legislative consultant will actively lobby Asian-American legislators, because the candidates that E.A.S.Y. Manufacturing supported were more successful with Asian-Americans than with other minority groups.

The legislative consultant does not indicate what plans he might have, only what has happened in recent elections. Those results indicate that the candidates the company supported actually polled slightly better with Hispanics than with Asian-Americans.

Answer: No
