(A) 245 - 5*5 = 25

(B) 246 - 6*6 = 36

(C) 247 - 7*7 = 49

(D) 248 - 8*8 = 64

We are looking for a number that, when squared, will have a units digit of 4. Of our answer choices, only 248 will have a units digit of 4 when it is squared.

Unit digit of the given number 61504 is 4, therefore we need to find an answer choice which gives us a unit digit of 4 when squared.

248 * 248 = 61504

Therefore (D).
