question no 1. how can this be yes, as we can see easily the nonstore retailers has also sales increase greater than total retail sales?

From August 2016 to August 2017, the only category whose sales increased faster than those for the retail and food services industry as a whole was gasoline stations.

Explanation

You're asked whether only gasoline station sales grew faster than the total retail and food service sales from August 2016 to August 2017.

Make sure you're looking at the proper column (August 2016 to August 2017). Sort that column and see whether only gasoline station sales are above “Retail and food services, total.”

Once it's sorted, notice that two categories (gasoline stations and nonstore retailers) have larger growth than the total retail and food service sales.

The correct answer is No.

Anybody explain Q3 ?
Sales at miscellaneous store retailers decreased from June 2017 to August 2017.

EXLANATION OF Q3: Sales at miscellaneous store retailers decreased from June 2017 to August 2017.

Sales at miscellaneous store retailers for the period June 2017 to July 2017= 2.4 percent change
Sales at miscellaneous store retailers for the period July 2017 to Aug 2017= -2.2 percent change

combining these information for the period june 2017 to aug 2017= ( -2.2 + 2.4 ) percent change= 0.2 percent change

which is a positive change
so ans is NO

Can't be, the sales are compared to the preceding month's sales. When this is considered, you can find a decrease.

The calculation is wrong i think.
If let's say price in June is x.
price change in June-July is -2.2%
so price in July is 0.978*x
price change in July-August is 2.4%
price in August is 0.978*x*102.4%=1.001472*x
so the price in August is higher than price in June,
hence Answer is No
