The median membership count is 15800 (Cedar) and the median area is 3300 sq m (Parkview). The branches above the median in members are Parkview, Harbor, Grand, and Riverside; all have areas of at least 3300 sq m, so none is below-median in area.

Answer: Yes

• Among branches with growth below the citywide median growth rate, the branch with the highest membership has a floor area below the citywide median floor area.

Citywide median growth rate is 1.2. The below-median group is Summit, Beacon, Grand, Maple; the highest membership among them is Grand at 20500. Citywide median floor area is 3300; Grand’s area is 5200, which is not below the median.

Answer: No

Among ≥17200 members: growth rates 2.3, 0.7, 1.8, 2.0; range = 1.6.

No common branches: So Yes

Among branches with growth below the citywide median growth rate (Summit, Beacon, Grand, Maple), the branch with the highest membership is Grand with 20500 registered members, and its corresponding floor area is 5200 which is 2nd largest, so definitely not below the citywide median floor area (3300).
Hence No

Branches with at least 17200 members: Parkview, Harbor, Grand and Riverside. The range of growth rates = 2.3-0.7 =1.6
Branches with at most 13400 members: Summit, Maple, Beacon and Orchard. The range of growth rates= 1.2- (- 0.4) =1.6
So Equal. Hence No

The Branch above the median registered number (15800) are :

Parkview (17200), Harbor (18500), Grand (20500), and Riverside (22300).

The median Floor area is 3300.

The branches below Median Floor area = Summit, Maple, Beacon and Orchard.

There is NO match between these two categories. Hence, YES.

Question 2: Among branches with growth below the citywide median growth rate, the branch with the highest membership has a floor area below the citywide median floor area.

Median Growth rate = 1.2 ( Orchard ). The branches below the citywide median growth rate and their membership value:


Summit (7800), Beacon (11100), Grand (20500), and Maple (9200).

The Highest value is 20500 belongs to Grand. And, Grand floor Area value ( 5200) is NOT BELOW the median floor area (3300).

Hence, NO.

Question 3: Among branches with at least 17200 members, the range of growth rates exceeds the range among branches with at most 13400 members.

The branches with at least 17200 members and their respective growth rates are as follows:

Parkview (2.0%), Harbor (1.8%), Grand (0.7%), and Riverside (2.3%).

The Range is (2.3 - 0.7) = 1.6

The branches with ATMOST 13400 members and their respective growth rates are as follows:

Summit (-0.4%), Maple (0.9%), Beacon (0.3%), and Orchard (1.2%).

The range is 1.2−(−0.4)=1.6.

Both these values are equal. Hence, NO.
