First arrange the numbers in ascending order (smallest to largest)

If the number of observations (n) is odd, then the median = \(\frac{n + 1}{2}th\) number.

If the number of observations is even, then the median =average of the \(\frac{n }{2}th\) and the next number.

The numbers in order are

1) 4,600,000

2) 4,900,000

3) 5,000,000

4) 5,300,000

5) 5,300,000

The number of observations = 5. Therefore the median is \(\frac{5 + 1}{2}\) = 3rd number = 5,000,000

For Median, arrange in ascending order.(As number of zeroes are same in all the values consider the first two digits)

=> 46, 49, 50, 53, 53

Median will be the 3rd position number: 50.

Arranging the data in increasing order: -
4,600,000
4,900,000
5,000,000
5,300,000
5,300,000

5,000,000 lies in middle, i.e. 3 out of 5 positions. Therefore, 5,000,000 is the median.
