Hey all,
Just gave my GMAT and was able to score 740! But now that I am trying to shortlist some schools to apply to, I am being rubbed in with all the possible US B-Schools permutations. Okay, so they are reputed but crazy expensive. The job market readily accepts their graduates but you lose 2 years out of your current job. A 100 things to be kept in mind while making my decision.
But the thing that worries me the most is the H1B. It's like this dark halo over every decision that I am trying to make.
For 85,000 open H1B Visa places, 2,30,000 people from across the spectrum of nationalities applied in 2018. You see the odds there? You have a measly 0.369 chance of landing an H1B in your attempt. Good if you get it. BUT. Worst Case scenario comes to life -
YOU DIDN'T GET IT. What happens then? Where do you go lugging that massive, massive debt on your shoulders?
1. Do you apply for a PR in Canada and start earning at a lesser capacity in a weaker currency and take 10 years to repay what ought to have been done in 5?
2. Or do you go to a third country and HUSTLE for a job there, putting in more money and time than you can afford?
3. Or you could go for one of those MBA+STEM courses that have just now started coming to life. Duke offers one and Notre Dam offers another among some known names. The issue here would be the wide acceptance of the degree being offered!
Any suggestions/ advice is open! And thanks in advance for taking your time out in trying to answer this!
-Rav!
