A. The value of the farming equipment manufacturer’s shares have risen nearly 200 percent this year as more investors have started to believe that the company will make more efficient tractors that people will flock to buy. --- The value and have risen—SV error.

B. The value of the farming equipment manufacturer’s shares has risen nearly 200 percent this year as more investors have started to express belief that the company will make more efficient tractors and that people will flock to buy. --- and that people will flock to buy—is this choice clearly stating that people will flock to buy those tractors? Why is the object of the ‘flock to buy’ missing?

C. The farming equipment manufacturer’s shares has risen nearly 200 percent this year because more investors have started to believe that the company will make more efficient tractors that people will flock to buy. – shares has risen is SV error.

D. The farming equipment manufacturer’s shares have risen nearly 200 percent this year as more investors have started to express belief that the company will make more efficient tractors that people will flock to buy.----- ‘Tractors that people will flock to buy’ clears up the air and rectifies the problem cited in B. Correct choice.

E.The farming equipment manufacturer’s shares have risen nearly 200 percent this year in that more investors have started to believe that the company will make more efficient tractors and people will flock to buy. – in that is an unidiomatic expression since it is just an indicative phrase and doesn’t imply that the shares have gone up because(as) people are expressing more belief.

The split between ‘have started to believe’ and ‘have started to express belief’ is a diversionary ploy, I suppose.

Hi,
I feel D cannot be correct either as in the beggining it states 'The farming equipment manufacturer’s ' and this means the number of shares of something have increased but not the value of them. There is no correct answer as in B the mistake in th end makes it unsure that what the people will flock for to buy.
Can someone clarify this for me pls?

I was unsure about the difference between "The value of shares ..rising" vs "The company's shares .. rising".
Does the latter mean the number of shares is rising ? Doesn't this alter the intended meaning ?

I had to go with B because D & E are talking about ".The farming equipment manufacturer’s shares have risen nearly 200 percent"

A & C Eliminated due to SVA issue.

Can someone help me ?
