previous to the performance of a world premiere piece than a classic piece
previous to the performance of a world premiere piece as to the performance of a classic piece
before performing a world premiere piece than a classic piece
before performing a world premiere piece than before performing a classic piece
before they perform a world premiere piece than performing a classic piece

Why not C?

Hii Shan.
Whenever you see key word such as less or more, think about the comparison.
Here the logic of the sentence is "many members of the orchestra are less apt before performing a world piece THAN before performing a classic piece.
The comparison made has to be parallel and logical.

The issue with C is neither the comparison is parallel not logical.
I mean to say, how can the members of the orchestra be less apt before doing something THAN a classic piece.
Hope that helps.

Let me know if anything remains unclear.

Since we check parallelism from right to left here in option C isn't before performing the root with goes with both the nouns that are world premiere piece and classical piece; hence the translation becomes "before performing a world premiere piece than before performing a classic piece" which is exactly as option D but more concise?
