The webbed feet of the Alabio duck has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet.

(A) has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet.
(B) has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders them incapable of feeling the cold on their feet.
(C) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on their feet.
(D) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet.
(E) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on its feet.
Feet is plural, hence have should be used in place of has.
which incorrectly modifies vessels.
A and B out.
POE:
(C) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on their feet. Pronoun ambiguity
(D) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet. Correct
(E) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on its feet. Pronoun ambiguity

(A) has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet. - 'which' modifies closest noun, blood vessels, but blood vessels do not render the duck, it is illogical. Based on this, we can eliminate A. Also, we have subject verb error - the webbed feet........has... wrong
(B) has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders them incapable of feeling the cold on their feet. - same as A
(C) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on their feet. - now we have correct modifier but pronoun 'them' refers to either vessels or feet, which makes no sense from meaning point of view. For whatever reason, we can eliminate C.
(D) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet. - correct in my opinion.
(E) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on its feet. - pronoun 'them' refers to either vessels or feet, which makes no sense from meaning point of view.

Answer is D

The webbed feet of the Alabio duck has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet.

reason 1 : here a and b carries two mistakes one is singular verb has and relative pronoun which wrongly modifing the blood vessels or the subject (either way it is wrong)

(A) has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet. ( wrong due to reason 1 )
(B) has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders them incapable of feeling the cold on their feet. ( wrong due to reason 1 )
(C) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on their feet. ( wrong due to pronoun issue. them and their are ambiguous with multiple nouns in the previous clause)
(D) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet. correct without errors
(E) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on its feet.( wrong due to pronoun issue. them is ambiguous with multiple nouns in the previous clause)[/color]

hence the ans is D

(A) has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet.
The subject is feet NOT the duck. So, have is required.

(A) has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet. - "has" is wrong as it cannot refer the plural noun "feet". It should be "have". Also "which" modifies blood vessels which is wrong.

(B) has neither nerves nor blood vessels, which renders them incapable of feeling the cold on their feet. - "has" and "which" are wrong as explained in (A). Also, "them" refers to "feet" which is logically wrong.

(C) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on their feet. - "them"is wrong as explained in (B). Also "their" is wrong as it cannot refer to the singular "duck".

(D) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering the duck incapable of feeling the cold on its feet. - Correct. The meaning is expressed clearly.

(E) have neither nerves nor blood vessels, rendering them incapable of feeling the cold on its feet - "them" is wrong as explained.
