The World Trade Organization (WTO) has stepped up its scrutiny of the offshore production facilities owned by the world’s top producer of athletic footwear. A recent labor probe in Country P found that each of the company's production plants violated several labor laws, and the WTO forced the company to double the minimum wage of each of its workers within that country. Therefore, the company's costs of producing athletic footwear will rise.

The conclusion above is based on which of the following assumptions?

A) The company has never been forced to raise the minimum wage of its workers in the past.

B) Sales of the company's footwear in Country P will rise.

C) Footwear that is produced in Country P is superior to that produced in any other country.

D) The company will continue to produce its athletic footwear in Country P.

E) The company's public display of compassion for its workers will ultimately translate into a better image among consumers.

A) The company has never been forced to raise the minimum wage of its workers in the past. Irrelevant

B) Sales of the company's footwear in Country P will rise. Irrelevant

C) Footwear that is produced in Country P is superior to that produced in any other country. Irrelevant

D) The company will continue to produce its athletic footwear in Country P. Correct answer as negating this choice breaks the argument. If the company will not continue to produce in Country P, the cost of producing footwear will not rise.

E) The company's public display of compassion for its workers will ultimately translate into a better image among consumers. Irrelevant

I am vouching on D
MY analysis:
A- We are not concerned with past of company
B- Future situation- not an assumption
C- Comparison - not our concern
D- Negate this and it violates the conclusion. Company is doing all efforts to increase cost considering the scenario of working in P
E- future- not an assumption
