I had a friend, who teaches freshman college English, proofread two of my practice essays which was of course very nice of her.
Her feedback was harsh but helpful.
She kept saying over and over again that my introduction needs to end with a thesis sentence in which I basically list all the "flaws of the argument" I am going to discuss in my essay. I know this is what we all learn in proper college writing and of course it adds nicely to the organization of an essay BUT is this really necessary for the AWA of the GMAT?
The few "perfect" example essays I have read and the videos I have watched on AWA didn't have a thesis statement as far as I can remember. How do you handle the introduction? Do we need to address the flaws in form of a thesis statement in the introduction?
Thanks.
