Well I'm no ETS but I would think that an experiment question would have 0 weight attached on it and thus would not affect the difficulty of your next question.
If that be the case I mean just logically if you can determine that your level of difficulty didn't change or in fact got easier even though you are absolutely positively sure that you did the previous question correctly it means you answered a experimental question.
