Time between 2 GMAT attempts

Hi there

Happy New Year!

I am trying to understand how many days I would have to wait between taking a GMAT Focus and then a standard GMAT (or the other way round). I only manaed to find info on GMAT that it's 16 days minimum, but is it different when it comes to two different GMAT versions?

I need to make two GMATs (or a GMAT and a GMAT Focus) attemps in January, and still haven't sheduled my tests so trying to plan things. Also, it it possible to schedule two tests in advance, or I can only schedule the next test after finishing the previous one?

The wait limit applies across all versions.

"You must wait 16 days between appointments for all GMAT exam attempts – whether the current GMAT Exam/GMAT Focus Edition, taken online or at a test center."

The 16-day waiting period applies regardless of which version you take.

That rule is somewhat new. In the past, you didn't have to wait 16 days if you changed versions.

Also, you need to be careful when registering because the system let's people register for GMATs less than 16 days apart - I realize that the fact that it allows you to do something you're not allowed to do is ridiculous, but it does - and then, GMAC cancels your score on the test you take less than 16 days after a previous test.

Does anyone know how GMAT calculates 16 days? Ie if you were to take it on May 10th and wanted to retake on May 26th, is that 16 days?

Hi! Yes, ideall that's how it's calculated. But, you can try booking the date for exact 16th day and 17th day and if GMAT allows you to book on the selected date, then it's good to go.

That makes sense. It let me book on the 16th day (and all dates were blacked out prior to that). I emailed the GMAT folks to confirm it's compliant as I've seen some horror stories about folks getting their scores cancelled... will report back.

Yeah that's a wise thing to do. Why don't you avoid complications and book the 17th day?

Do you have some application deadlines on the 17th day?

The GMAT policy requires a minimum of 16 days between test attempts. To calculate this, you start counting the day after the test date as day one. For example, if you took the GMAT on May 10th:

May 11 - Day 1 
 May 12 - Day 2 
 May 13 - Day 3 
 May 14 - Day 4 
 May 15 - Day 5 
 May 16 - Day 6 
 May 17 - Day 7 
 May 18 - Day 8 
 May 19 - Day 9 
 May 20 - Day 10 
 May 21 - Day 11 
 May 22 - Day 12 
 May 23 - Day 13 
 May 24 - Day 14 
 May 25 - Day 15 
 May 26 - Day 16

So, yes, if you took the GMAT on May 10th, May 26th would be the 16th day, and you would be eligible to retake the test on that date.

Hi,

I have similiar timing where I have scheduled to take the exam on June 10th and would like to schedule a second appointment to take the exam on June 26th.

However, when I try to schedule the second appointment on June 26th it tells me: "Per GMAT Exam policy, there must be at least 16 days between exam appointments. Please select an appointment date that is 16 or more days before or after your previously scheduled appointment(s)."

Any advice or update on your experience taking the exam a 2nd time exactly 16 days after your first attempt?

I think that may mean that you have to take the GMAT on the 27th. If you select June 27th as your next test date, can you schedule it?
