Need Tips to improve my Quant Score

Question

Hi Experts,

I am going to have my Gmat Exam in 20 days..

Right now i am scoring 45-46 in Quant.. I tried to identify my weak areas but i am doing qstns wrong randomly..about 12-14 qstns are getting wrong..

Can you please suggest some tips to improve my quant score to 49 in 20 days..( I am concentrating on verbal as well)...I have covered all Mgmat books & other quant course also..
I just thought to solve gmatclub qstns by difficulty level but i don't think i can cover all of them in this short period of time..

Please suggest..

Hi Maddala,

You're focused on the Quant section right now, so I can offer some suggestions. However, you have not defined your OVERALL goals - and it might be that your time would be better spent working on the Verbal section during these last few weeks of study.

I have a few questions about how you perform on the Quant section of your CATs:
1) After reviewing the questions that you've gotten wrong, can you define WHY you got them wrong? 
2) How often was it because of a silly/little mistake? 
3) How often was it because the question was just too hard? 
4) Do you have trouble finishing the Quant section on time (and do you have to guess on questions just to finish?)?

What is your overall score goal?
How have you been scoring on your CATs (including the Essay and IR sections)?

Hi Rich,

I took Gmat prep 2 days back without IR & AWA..I Scored 590 (Q-47 V-25)

Verbal section due to poor time management i screwed it..mainly due to RC..So working on RC right now..

Regarding quant section- out of 12 incorrect questions 6 questions are silly mistakes which i did wrong due to time pressure..

Rest of the 6 questions i felt bit tough..but later exam i felt i can solve them..

I am looking for 700+ score..

Hi maddala,

Do you have the flexibility to push your Test Date back? I ask because the situation that you've described does not support the idea that you're going to score 700+ in 20 days.

To start, since you skipped the Essay and IR sections on this last CAT, your 590 is likely 'inflated' (meaning that you scored higher than you should have because you didn't take the FULL CAT). Thus, this score is not a reliable indicator of your current abilities. It's likely that your Quant skills are considerably stronger than your Verbal scores, but we do not know how much stronger.

From this CAT score, you appear to have a much greater opportunity to pick up points in the Verbal section than in the Quant section. All things being equal, you should be spending the bulk of your practice time working on the Verbal section (not just RC) and only a little of that time working on the Quant section.
