Re: Tires of a certain brand, when purchased new, last for four [#permalink]
Hi,

I am little confused here.. I know I am wrong, but just want to discuss..

Average Cost of New Tire = (180 + 0 + 0 + 0)/4 = 45

Average Cost of Old Tire = (40 + 0 + 40 + 0)/4 = 20. Since repaired tire would continue for one more additional year and then by the given information, it should be repaired again. No where in this question is mentioned that tire would be repaired just once.

Pls clarify

We re asked to compare the average cost per year of the new tire (which is $45) and the cost of repairing the current tire (which is given to be $40).

P.S. When you pay $40 to repair a tire it lasts for that year only, not for two years as you counted.
