Can someone explain the reason behind the correct answer E?

I guess you mixed up the meaning of statement B which I did at first as well. But I'd request to read again.

Option B: Chase does not know anyone who has connections to the entertainment industry.

This statement doesn't mean directly whether Chase himself knows anyone in the industry. Let's say if it was rather "Chase does not know anyone in the entertainment industry.", it would be much clearer and could even be considered the answer in the event of no other better option.

Option E: Chase has not financed any Hollywood movies.

I understand why this might seem a bit out of dynamic. But it's a little passive and pensive, unlike other usual direct statements.

So see, the club requires members to have no connections to the entertainment industry. =16pxFinancing Hollywood movies - which is an immense contribution to the industry where you network with people from the industry - is a clear connection to the entertainment industry. =16pxSince Chase was accepted as a member, it follows that he must not have financed any movies. if he would, he'd have connections from the industry and he'd be disqualified.

Answer B is the best Suited option and fits the bill perfectly fine!
To be accepted as a member at the Brown Country Club, one must have a net worth of over ten million dollars and must not have any connections to the entertainment industry. Robert Chase, the publishing magnate, has a net worth of 5 billion dollars and has been accepted as a member at the Brown Country Club.

It states that one must not have any connections to the entertainment industry, however it doesn't state that you can't know anyone with ties to the entertainment industry.

E. It says Robert hasn't financed any Hollywood movies, which certainly must be true since he doesn't have any ties to the entertainment industry (one of the 2 conditions to get into the club)

Robert Chase, the publishing magnate, has a net worth of 5 billion dollars and has been accepted as a member at the Brown Country Club.

Given the statements above, which one of the following conclusions must be true?

A. Chase’s membership was preapproved.

B. Chase does not know anyone who has connections to the entertainment industry.

C. Chase’s ex-business partner is a major concert promoter, has a net worth of 100 million dollars, and is a member of the Brown Country Club.

D. Chase’s brother, who has also petitioned for membership at Brown, has a net worth of 10 billion dollars and considers it beneath his dignity to associate with anyone in the entertainment industry. Hence, his petition will be accepted.

E. Chase has not financed any Hollywood movies.

This is a Data Sufficiency Butler Question

Official Explanation

The argument states that two criteria must be met before the Brown Country Club will accept a person:

    I. He or she must have a net worth of over ten million dollars.
II. He or she must not have any connections to the entertainment industry.

Since the Chase was accepted as a member, he must not have any connections to the entertainment industry and therefore could not have financed a Hollywood movie. The answer is (E).

How is it that if Robert Chase only has a net worth of 5 billion dollars, he got chosen?

Because his worth of 5 billion dollars is way larger than the requirement of " over ten million dollars"? Not sure whether I understood your doubt correctly, but it could be possible that you misread the two amounts in wording.
