hey folks at
Admissionado,
I recently got an admit from Washington university at st Louis , Olin Business School with a 10k/sem scholarship.
I applied there as a safe school and i liked it because of its small class size and not so expensive living..
Off late i am having second thoughts about joining it mainly because of some things i heard and read about effectiveness of the career center at olin for international students. (even though it had 96% placement record last year and 100% on internships!)
I have talked to a few current students and they are of the opinion that it is actually very difficult to get a job for international students and one needs to do a lot of networking apart from the opportunities posted on career center
So i started thinking about why is it so difficult ! With US news rankings it looks like it is a good school in mid-west region (constantly ranked in 20-25 range in its rankings) .. is it because its mba program is not that reputed !
can you please comment on the reputation of the school, because as admission consultant i think you can really give me honest view .
I never really thought that i wouldn't get into one of my reach schools( Tepper ! ) so didn't do much research on Olin at that time ..
to give you my background, i am in Indian applicant with 3 yrs of work ex (at Matriculation) with Deloitte in their technology division. GMAT 710. GPA 3.57 (WES converted). Very good extra car.. numerous leadership roles.. good life story..
Thanks
Lin
