Dear Candidate,
In the GMAC Prospective Students Survey (2023), for the first time, a majority of respondents expressed a preference for 1-year MBA programs over the traditional 2-year options that have long been popular in the US.
Out of the 2,710 participants from 131 countries, 22% indicated a preference for the accelerated 1-year MBA, citing its lower cost and shorter duration, which means less time away from employment. 20% favored the traditional 2-year, full-time residential MBA. Additionally, the preference for 1-year programs appears to lean towards European schools, where such programs are more prevalent. Interestingly, the GMAC report also suggests that preferences differ across generations, with Gen-Z's showing more interest in the 2-year MBA, while millennials lean towards the 1-year option.
