Re: Top 20 Best GMAT Books on GMAT Club [#permalink]
Hello, I have a personalized question I was wondering if you can help me with:

I'm trying to figure out which books/packages would be best for me considering I'm not looking for an extremely high score (so don't need those advanced books/questions), and I have to work within these time contraints (so cannot go thru a ton of material)

-Essentially only looking for 580-600 score
-Study needs to be done in close to a 4 week period (not working at that time)
-Been out of University (B.Comm) for 2 years (taking GMAT in Canada)
-I dont anticipate I'm close to a "1 week and 700" club member

What would you recommend ?

1) The Official Guide for GMAT Review 12th Edition
2) .... (not sure)
3) .... (not sure)

OT Question - Does the GMAT fee of around $250.00 include any books? Or all materials (books) are purchased afterwards (extra).

Thanks!

Hi,

Please go through this post:
gmat-faq-frequently-asked-questions-about-gmat-75809.html

You should find a lot of answers in that thread.
No, the $250 fee covers only your taking the GMAT and sending the score reports to 5 schools afterwards.

This thread should give you some ideas on the prep strategy:
gmat-study-plan-for-gmat-novices-start-your-gmat-journey-80727.html

Your study plan will depend greatly on your current standing

Is the MGMAT Bundle with the three official guides, their own 8 guides, the practice papers and question bank good? Will it be worth the $250?

I have gone through the threads and except for the last post here, all the others seem to rank the books separately. But as a combined package of books from any given source, what do you think the best GMAT preparation books are?

Looks like a few books doing well including MGMAT Math Foundatiosn and MGMAT RC; a bit surprised Kaplan 800 is on the rise (not a bad book but it gets bashed a lot). Also looks like Kaplan Verbal Foundations are back on the map.

Interesting month :)

Hi all,

This is my first post in gmat club..quite amazed by the number of people on this forum..im looking to take up the gmat in april 2011..with regards to the books mentioned above..i just have some doubts here..on some other forum i came across the Powerscore CR bible as the best option over other Verbal related books..but here the ranking seems to different..is it because people havnt been able to get thier hands on Powerscore or is it because of something else?

Welcome to GMAT Club!

This particular ranking is based on the number of times users mentioned a certain book here on GMAT Club forum.

You can see this thread for more books:

Good luck with your GMAT preparation!

For CR, PowerScore CR is the best (close second is the MGMAT CR) and Veritas also has a good CR book now too.
So, yes PowerScore CR is the best but it does not compare to the OG 12.

The MGMAT guides refer to questions in OG and OG verbal/quant review for each topic. Powerscore CR doesnt do that. However, from the reviews I read here and in amazon.com, this book is more recommended than MGMAT CR.
