After exploring around 160+ Kellogg MBA interview debriefs and 1500 questions posted at GMAT Club during years 2018-19 to 2025-26, I ranked top 20 questions with respect to their frequency of appearance.

A note about "Questions for me"

"Do you have any questions for me?" is actually one of the most frequent closing questions in the entire question bank likely 140/157 Interview debriefs (~89%). It is visible repeatedly throughout the source.

I have excluded it from the Top 20 substantive interview questions above because it is essentially a standard closing question. The MBA aspirants must prepare some thoughtful and related questions to ask at the end of the interview.

What the Top 20 questions tell us

The distribution is quite revealing.

Tier 1: Almost unavoidable

1. Resume
2. Why Kellogg
3. Career goals
4. Why MBA / Why now

These four are the core Kellogg interview narrative. In other words, an interviewer wants to understand:
Where have you been → where are you going → why MBA → why Kellogg?

This combination appears repeatedly across the question bank, including reports where several of these are asked as a single combined question.

Tier 2: Leadership & collaboration

5. Leadership
6. Teamwork
7. Diverse teams

This is the second major pillar. The interviewer isn't merely asking:

"Are you a leader?"

They frequently want evidence of:


  • leadership
  • teamwork
  • dealing with different perspectives
  • diversity
  • conflict
  • learning

For example, one report explicitly combines diverse teams, leadership, conflict and learning.

Tier 3: Self-awareness & evidence

15. Colleague perception

These questions collectively test:

Do you understand yourself, can you provide evidence, and can you learn from experience?

This becomes particularly apparent in later-year reports, where interviewers ask about feedback, resilience, weaknesses, colleagues' perceptions and difficult situations.

20. Biggest challenge at Kellogg

These go beyond simply:
"Why Kellogg?"
The interviewer increasingly wants to know:

What will you actually do once you get there?

The question bank contains repeated questions about contribution to the community/classroom, clubs, courses, extracurriculars and anticipated challenges at Kellogg.
