Can I still get top B-School in USA without having experience in top MNC like ey Wipro TCS etc..im working in startup as a BDE for US clients

Puruvatsa - Broadly, 3 factors determine the strength of your work-ex: branded employer, your impact on the role, skillsets gained.

If you can demonstrate strength across the other two angles (e.g. career progression/ promotions, tangible results in your role, working with international clients, transferable skills to post-MBA goals etc.), the lack of brand will not pull you down.

Having a strong GMAT/ GRE score can also help offset this potential concern, particularly for some schools that place a higher weightage on the brand.

Absolutely. First of all, as many note above, there are many elements of your work experience. You don't need to be an MNC so long as you have accrued solid experience with strong achievements and robust responsibilities. I would rather take that profile than someone who is at an MNC but doesn't frankly do much.

Second of all, there are many factors that the AdCom considers such as your undergrad GPA/academic performance, GMAT/GRE, letters of recommendation, demographics, essays, extracurricular achievements, etc. It's a holistic evaluation so don't worry about one particular factor so long as it's not too far out of what is deemed generally acceptable.

Hello Puruvatsa

Absolutely! Top US business schools value diverse backgrounds, and your experience at a startup can be a major asset. While working at a large MNC can offer valuable experience, startups often provide a fast-paced environment where you can wear many hats, take on leadership roles, and gain a deep understanding of all aspects of the business.

Focus on highlighting the skills you've developed at your current role, such as building relationships with US clients, understanding their needs, and exceeding sales targets. These experiences translate well to the business world and demonstrate your potential for future success.

Top B-schools are looking for well-rounded individuals who can contribute a unique perspective to their programs. So play to your strengths, emphasize the transferable skills you've gained at your startup, and you'll be a strong candidate for admission.

Hello Puruvatsa,

Thanks for writing in.

Yes; you can absolutely get into a top business school even without MNC experience.

What really matters to the school is your overall profile including professional experience, career growth, leadership potential, extra-curricular activities, and GMAT score.

The following video will make things clearer:

Hope this helps.

All the best!
