1. Using the information given in the rubric, let's calculate the distance the packages need to travel to get to those places.

- Nashville, TN. The nearest hub is Atlanta - 250 miles, while the shipping center is 554 miles away from Nashville. At the same time, the distance from the shipping center to Atlanta is 802 miles, which is more than 554. That means the traveling route will be directly from the shipping center and consist of 554 miles < 1000 miles. So, the shipping charge will be $10.
- Pittsburgh, PA. The nearest hub is Chicago - 460 miles, while the shipping center is 842 miles away from Pittsburgh. At the same time, the distance from the shipping center to Chicago is 527 miles, which is less than 842. That means the traveling route will be from the shipping center to Chicago, then to Pittsburgh and consist of 527 + 460 = 987 miles < 1000 miles. So, the shipping charge will be $10.
- Winnipeg, Canada. Since the city is in Canada, the delivery must go through a hub. The nearest hub is Calgary - 828 miles and its distance from the shipping center is 1625 miles. The total distance will be 1625 + 828 = 2453 miles > 1000 miles. So, the shipping charge will be $15.

2. The question asks us to figure out whether the following statements are true or false.

- For orders made to the 5 cities listed at the top of the mileage chart, none will be shipped directly from the shipping center to the final destination. As earlier explained, Nashville will have goods shipped directly from the shipping center. So, this statement is false.
- For orders shipped to the 5 cities listed at the top of the mileage chart, the longest distance an order could travel is 2453 miles. The distance needed for Winnipeg is 2453 miles. For a destination in the US, the largest theoretical distance would be the max from the shipping center to one of the hubs (1418) and the largest distance from one of the hubs to a city (712). 1418 + 712 = 2130 < 2453. So, this statement is true.
- For orders shipped to the 5 cities listed at the top of the mileage chart, the shortest distance an order could travel is 987 miles. To Nashville it would take 554 miles. So, this statement is false.
