I had a question about transcripts... is it okay if they don't receive the official transcript by the deadline date? I e-mailed admissions but with the holiday season and all....

Yah, It works till the admission interview. But your application status will remain INCOMPLETE ... they will update the status when they will get your transcripts...so submit them ASAP.. deadline date is not necessary but advisable. WEBSITE: your packet should have the stamp dated no later than deadline date.

Hello everyone,

I this a very last minute question but I dont want to submit my application if I made a mistake.

For the third essay, what kind of approach are they looking for in terms of contributing to the program. I thought that they are looking for an applicant to explain how his various internship or work experiences will enhance the georgetown MBA community. But I am now having a second guessing my approach because accepted.com states it different.

Please help me here!

ACCEPTED.COM's STATEMENT
Essay #3
How will your classmates benefit from your presence in the Georgetown MBA program?
What talents are you going to bring to Georgetown, and where to you intend to contribute them? Do your homework on McDonough before you answer the question. What clubs will you want to participate in? What initiatives will you want to take? This a great essay in which to show both self-awareness and your knowledge of Georgetown.

I touched on both in my essay, with more focus on how my experiences and interests can contribute to student organizations and a little on how I envision myself contributing during classroom discussions etc. Definitely heavier focus on student organizations though.

Did everyone write an optional essay (that doesn't explain poor grades?)

Anyone know if they'll bump me to R3 if my Official Transcript isn't there by 1/1/11? I submitted a request to my undergrad Registrar, but it hasn't been fulfilled yet, and certainly won't by the due date. The office has been closed for much of the winter break.

I'm panicking.

Relax. Breath in deeply. Panicking has never helped anyone to accomplish anything, let alone getting into an MBA.

A good news is that you don't need to send the official transcript precisely by the application deadline. I sent mine almost a month later. Not that I recommend that, but the point is that the an electric copy uploaded will be good enough at the time of submission.

Good luck!

Another last minute question. I did not see the following essay question until I uploaded my other essay answers to submit my application.

Most of my community work was done before or during college. I moved around a lot while working so I did not have a chance to contribute to the community after college (other than helping a student club with its website).
What do you suggest I talk about?

ESSAY FOUR: COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS (Required) - Limit: one page
A) Please provide a bulleted list of your post-undergraduate involvement in the community. Indicate the nature of the activity or organization, dates of involvement, offices held, and average number of hours spent each month.
B) What motivates you to continue contributing to the community? Limit: 250 words

Odd - I didn't see an area to upload the electronic transcript and the application checker never brought it to my attention. In any case, I e-mailed them about this question and they said that they have about 4 weeks of processing time after submission and given the holidays and storms they're expecting some delays, so not to worry if it comes in late. So don't worry. Although my official requests are at my uni, I'm doubtful that they'll send until after 1/1/11.

hey, i am in same boat as you... georgetown is one that put some emphasis into it in a form of an essay. I just explained what I did with my time instead of participating in community service and some interviewers actually commented on them and how those activities took away big chunks of time. I am not sure how often you moved around (part of the job i assume?) so you could mention that. I am sure they would understand if your job entails you to be a "road warrior" all the time...
