FALL 2010 Stats

* Applications (admitted and denied) to the newest class: 1,540
* Applicants who were accepted to the most recent class: 27 % (~416)
* Admitted applicants who enrolled in the newest class: 48 % (201) - Lower yield rate
* Applicants who were re-applicants from prior years: 5 %
* Percentage of this year's reapplicants accepted: 26 %
* Applicants wait-listed during the last admissions cycle: 251
* Wait-listed applicants admitted for the semester to which they applied: 26
* Applicant interviews are: By invitation only
* Applicants (admitted and denied) who were interviewed: 72 % (1109)
* Admitted applicants who were interviewed: 100 %

Looks like Tepper Invites a large chunk of Applicants for Interviews. 37.5 % of those interviewed are given an admit. ~37.5 of the initial pool of applicants are not interviewed!

so the conversion rate is pretty low compared to other Peer schools, which usually have about 50-55% conversion rate!

Your information is incorrect. Tepper allows applicant initiated interviews. See below from the website:

What is the interview policy?

On-Campus Interviews

During the early part of the admission season (until November 23rd), visitors may request an interview with a member of our admission staff. We try to accommodate as many interview requests as possible, but unfortunately cannot guarantee every visitor an interview appointment. To request and complete an on-campus interview before November 23rd, please fax a copy of your resume and your GMAT score (if you have taken the test) to us at 412-268-4209. The fax should also include the date of your visit and your contact information, including a current email address.

@ vixer.. not sure if the self initiated interviews can skew the numbers by much (12.5%). It may contribute a little to bettering the interview invite and conversion %

Thanks! :)

I interviewed in early November, so it's been a while, but here's my quick summary. I interviewed with Krystal Brooks. She was very nice and easy to talk to. I don't recall many specifics being that the interview was months ago, but there was nothing asked that I didn't expect. I walked her through my resume and she asked the standard questions like why an MBA, why Tepper, and why now. She had read everything in my application but said I could re-use examples from my essays if I wanted. There weren't any interviews after mine, so I had a lot of time to ask questions at the end. I think we talked for about an hour total. Overall, I'd say don't get too worked up about it. This was the most relaxed b-school interview I had. Good luck!

Is it common for your application to show transcripts received (Not Official)?

Indian applicants, did you attach a scanned copy of your degree certificate as well to indicate the graduation date?

Thanks.

I'm not from India, but my undergrad degree is not from the US, and I did do what you describe.

Did your degree certificate had any picture of you? If so, did you blur it out?

Thanks.

No, there was no picture. One of the other schools I applied to asked for a picture (it was optional, but I did include it). Why would you blur it out?

Nothing particular, but Tepper kindof strictly mentions that blur out all your id and date of birth so on.

My online status shows the same: missing TOELF and official transcripts. However, Admissions did contact me to get details on both (10 days after submitting my application). I provided details on both of the missing documents through email but I never heard back from them. That leads me to believe that mail was clear enough for them and that they are behind in updating online status. Just to play it safe I sent them an email to confirm they received my email :)
