is GMAT profitable in your life?????
i answer yesssssss! i think when i study about word problem my brain is working better
than last.in fact, GMAT study change my daily life.
what's your opinion?

GMAT is different from many other exams in that you cannot learn from a book and replicate in the exam. You have to put in the effort to understand the concepts very properly. The software challenges you at every question and I think I have said it a number of times before - everyone sweats while taking GMAT... Your mind would be a mush at the end of 3 hrs (let's say when you are half done with Verbal) and you would have lost the will to continue. Therefore, it's extremely important to study in batches of 3 of more hours to train your mind. (I see I have gone on a tangent here. Let me pull back.)
Fundamentals that you pick up right now, will serve you well, not only while doing MBA but also later in your job. You may not realize it, but a strong base will make you more intuitive and perceptive about how things work. Perhaps you will not need to find out the % of wine in the final solution when you mix two wine and water solutions but when you need to find the cost of capital for your company, knowing weighted averages will help.
So treat GMAT as a worthy opponent and you will do a favor to yourself.

well, it helps me
- brush up my grammar;
- be more efficient when reading (anything);
- be more like the olden days, when it was a breeze to do math in my head and on paper (i.e. before spreadsheets and Texas Instruments Calculators :) )
- be more organized;
- yet again feel a part of a great community / and generally be in a good company (last but not least)

:)

If you are studying and working at the same time, then it is a time allocation problem.

I think I went through 100 PS questions from the OG12 guide over the weekend without much effort, but after a day of programming, it really gets to you when you start solving harder questions after Q120.

As with many intro posts, it's not a very good idea to burn yourself out. I'll take it easy tonight and write some AWA essays to get a feel of the range of questions. I love writing and find many of the issues thought provoking, I just need to develop the logic and focus.

Maybe it's a healthy obsession :) I'm pretty sure that I wont be obsessed with GMAT after I get a +760. But till then, I eat, drink, breathe and sleep GMAT!

Maryam,

Whatever GMAT is, To me at least, it is a bridge to a more prosperous world. GMAT is my intimate friend.

And yes, it opens up your mind to daily mundane things!

Yes, it is a great approach/perspective.
As walker said a long time ago, you really need to get passionate about the GMAT (not hate it) but really want to know everything about it. Any time you see a question that you understand to the 99% degree, seek out that 1% and find out why that word is there or how the equation works. Be restless about it!

(Walker actually had a much better way of saying it, but you get the point)

True, unless your passionate about something, you won't be putting in your 110%. :)

But GMAT prep does suck out every bit of energy that you may haveafter your office!! and kills your weekend life :(

I love solving puzzles, To me every quant question is like a puzzle...at the end of the question when i get a correct answer, it boosts my confidence.

After 7 years of staying away from academic life It is difficult to hook on to Gmat but it surely is a bridge to the better life, Would love to cross the bridge soon...
