FYI to all Regular Decision Applications: I spoke to the admissions office today, and they stated that they began to review regular decision applications yesterday. Hopefully we'll start noticing some updates in our statuses within the next 2 weeks.
wow - starting to get nervous / anxious...hopefully i can hear back before second rounds are due
Just got an invite after 7 weeks! Please do not lose hope - I think they just take longer to review the apps.

Really? Have people seen a change in status on the website? I tried to contact them a week or 2 ago and was told they definitely would not start reviewing regular decision apps until December at the earliest. I submitted my RD app on 3 Oct so I would imagine it should be one of the first reviewed when they start reviewing RD applications. Status online still says "will go under review in December."

I submitted my app on 9/29, and haven't seen a change either. I called the other day to see about changing some contact info and casually asked the woman on the phone. She just stated that "We literally just started reviewing regular decision". I have talked to some people that submitted RD back in August, so I suspect we would still have a little while left. One or two people have probably finished reviewing all of their early decision applicants, and have started on RD earlier than the rest. Atleast we have something to look forward to. Good luck!
Do you guys think the timing of interview matters? My preferred interviewer contacted me back with the proposed date on Dec 5th, which is more than two weeks from now, and the other local alumni (he got his master in my Alma mater) also contacted me today offering an interview next Monday. I am concerned that Adcom may defer my decision due to the timing if I choose to interview in Dec....What do you guys think?
Many Thanks!

I would say the earlier the better. Adcom prefers you to get it done within two weeks. Think of it this way: the longer you take with your interview, the longer you may have to wait for your decision.

Columbia uses a rolling admissions, which means that each day are less seats available... I strongly recommend to have your interview as soon as possible, unless you feel that the guy who can interview you next monday is not good.

I think that if you complete your interview on the 5th you would be fine. The Columbia site specifically states that the timing of the interviews has no bearing on your acceptance. If that wasn't the case, I don't think they would have stated it.
Clearly you are an ED applicant which means that MOST of the spots for the class are still open. There isn't a rush. They are going to give as much time and focus to your decision as they do mine (I interviewed last week) and the people that they accepted a month ago. The adcom has been doing this a long time and thus they know that when they invite people to interview near the holidays, they are going to get some apps going "complete" pretty close to the deadline.
so...I've come to the conclusion that it has taken me so long to get a decision because adcomm wanted to wait until thanksgiving to make the moment that more special. Yea - that must be it.
Hopefully those of us waiting get the call before Wednesday so we don't have to sit through a long holiday weekend without knowing.
So according to Page 1 of this thread, we have so far 24 people denied, 41 "interviewed", and 20 admitted. Am I missing something, or is the interview/accepted rate way too high? Seems like the 2011 post had a similar trend (more accepted than denied). Or should we assume that most people who don't update their status are denied?
Congratulations! You'll have a perfect long holiday weekend!
I'm still waiting to hear back as well - I'm hoping they make a decision either way before the holiday...a long weekend would be a good opportunity to crank out more round 2 apps if necessary. I have a feeling they'll wait till after the holidays to ding people though.
My status just changed to printed and prepared for review. I'm a Regular Decision man, just submitted on Nov 18. I guess this status message is old news for most of you?
