I walked past the Greyhound station on my walk from Darden to the downtown mall. If you take the Greyhound, look up the local transit routes (the CAT and the UVA bus service). I think the CAT #7 bus is your best bet, I don't know about the UVA routes. You may be able to save money on a taxi if you have time.

I need some ideas on transportation to the campus. I am flying to IAD (Dulles airport). Rental cars are darn costly. Has anyone used Amtrak or Greyhound as a connection from this airport to the campus? Looks like stations are very close to the campus (3 miles). Am just concerned on getting from airport to catch train or bus. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I don't know of any transportation directly from Dulles to C'ville; but if you're looking to get into DC to catch either the bus or train down there, there is a Metro bus (fare is $5 or $6) that runs about every 40 mins from the airport (picks up right outside the airport) into Rosslyn or DC (L'enfant Plaza) where you can catch the subway to Union Station for the Amtrak or Greyhound. To my knowledge thats the cheapest way from that airport.
I submitted my application on January 11th. On my home page, my status appears as the following:
Your Application MBA: Your application has been submitted. Thank you for applying to Darden.
: You have not finished your application.
Does anyone else's status look like this? Should I be concerned that my application is incomplete? I have checked it thoroughly and don't see anything missing. Thanks!

I would give the admissions office a call and have them check on it.
Thanks. Flying to CHO is kinda costly for me compared to flying to IAD. But, if there is a lots of hassle, I might have to shell out 700 bucks to go directly to CHO.

Do you have the option of getting a connecting flight from Dulles or Charlotte, NC, opposed to a direct flight? That's the option I'm going with and the connection from Charlotte to Charlottesville was only about 30 bucks.more. With one connection I found a round trip flight from Chicago for $220 with tax...not bad at all.
I was actually on a project by Dulles and it is definitely doable. I made the drive out before I visited Darden for an open house. Renting a car and driving is not a big deal, i think a 2 hour drive from Dulles. I would just fly in the day/night before you stuff to make sure you are not rushing in case there is traffic and plan to fly out the day after. My flight was the evening of the open house, and I had to leave about 4 hours before my flight to make it with traffic and thats with going through all the priority lines at the airport too.

Good luck on the interview!

I second that. Dulles is 2 hours and 10-15 mins away and you can rent a car. Try to check options for Richmond airport as well. Sometimes there are good prices and it's a hour away.
I am visiting Darden on 1st & 2nd Feb (still waiting to hear for the interview though) and staying at Darden Inn, anyone else coming over on these days?
Also, can anyone help me with the best way to go Mclean from Darden - flights are too costly . Anyone heading to IAD/DAC/Baltimore/McLean on 2nd or 3rd Feb?
I am actually travelling from India and do not know much about the area. Would be glad if someone could help me out.
Assuming that you can't drive and can't find a ride, taking a bus or train is your best bet.

Shweta - I def recommend checking out Amtrak and taking a train from Northern Virginia or DC down to Charlottesville. It's a nice, pleasant, and fast train ride!

Feel so sad that I still didn't receive an interview invitation. I was admitted 2 years ago by darden, but due to family reason, I didn't go. I did receive promotion in work during the 2 year window and I think my application package this year is stronger.
Cppdavid - interview invites for R2 are still being sent out! Invites can be sent out up until the end of the R2 notification date.
